"Security problems across international borders are intensifying. While domestic territories are under constant control of security services, the boundaries tend to be vulnerable," Andrei Novikov said at the International Security and Safety Technologies forum in Moscow.

Novikov gave examples of the groundbreaking South Stream and North Stream pipeline projects, saying they may turn out to be highly vulnerable to sabotage and cyber attacks.

"The CIS Anti-Terrorism Center is promoting cooperation between governments and security services to work out a unified security system," he said, adding that the EU and the OSCE expressed willingness to take part in developing an enhanced security system of Russian and Belorussian pipelines.
