"Since opening day, the Islamic center has had more than 60,000 patients. The majority of those who visited the center have recovered their health. The clinic helped them to get better by non-traditional means - namely, by reading the Holy Koran," the statement said.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov took part in Tuesday"s celebrations to mark the center"s first anniversary. He presented the head of the center, Daud Selmurzayev, with the Order of Akhmad Kadyrov, the Chechen republic"s highest decoration.

"The centre has been very popular not only with residents of the republic, but also with Muslims from other Russian regions and CIS countries," Kadyrov said.
